1 - 5pm: SCULPTING WALKLEY    

Free, drop-in, Ruskin Hall (ground floor)

Clay sculpture and river drawing for all with Ellie Somerset.  

Create a scene from terracotta clay to add to a frieze for Walkley.  Inspired by the work of Benjamin Creswick,  local internationally renowned Victorian sculptor and regular visitor to Ruskin's St George's Museum.  

Add clay animals and people to a collective clay world.

Help draw the flow of huge charcoal drawing of the Rivelin river.

1 - 5pm: 3D DRAWING & PRINTING  

Free, drop-in, Ruskin Hall (ground floor)

Try your hand at drawing with 3D pens, and see how 3D printing works, with Candice Majewski from the University of Sheffield.

2pm & 3.30pm: IN THE MIND'S EYE

Free workshops, please book, Appleyard Room (upstairs)

Try drawing by following audio-described guidance. Each workshop is an hour long.  Suitable for all levels of sight ability.  Please book via julie.turnbull@srsb.org.uk or 0114 272 2757 during office hours.

10am - 2pm: COMIC BOOK DRAWING    

Free, drop-in

Try different styles of comic book drawing with Sheffield Comic Network illustrators, including Bambos Georgiou.  

Draw a short comic strip inspired by film quotes with Sam Hilson.  Graphic novels and comics on display.

Children must be accompanied by adults.

An impressive range of original artworks by local artists, themed 'Drawing Walkley Together'. See what is being created in classes and homes in Walkley by professional and amateur artists.

10.30am - 12.30pm: SKETCHBOOK JOURNAL WORKSHOP

Free workshop, limited places, first come, first served

Sue Nichol helps you uncover the joys of keeping a sketchbook journal.  Please bring a sketchbook if you have one (the book sort are best, hardback or soft) and any pens, pencils you like using, and images you'd like to draw. Otherwise, materials will be provided. Suitable for adults and children 10+. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Draw the nature and views of this tranquil cemetery, with Friends of Walkley Cemetery.  Materials provided.  Visit the commemorative plaque on the grave of Henry Swan, curator of St George's Museum in Walkley from 1875 - 1890.

Draw the nature and views of Ruskin Park, with Friends of Ruskin Park.  The park was named after John Ruskin, who was passionate about the importance of public parks and green spaces in cities. Materials provided.

2pm: RIVELIN VALLEY ART & POETRY WALK

Free, limited places, must be booked in advance

A two hour art and poetry walk along the Rivelin Valley led by visual artist Jason Thomson (creator of the Rivelin Chair sculpture in the valley), with poetry read by Fay Musselwhite.  Suitable for adults and children age 10+.  Children must be accompanied by adults.

 

All drawing materials will be provided.

 

An optional (free) taxi will be provided at the end of the walk for participants who would like a lift up to Walkley Community Centre on Fir St.
